About the Author
Mark Griffith is a professor of classics and of theater, dance, and performance studies at the University of California, Berkeley. He lives in Albany, CA.  Trained at Cambridge, Griffith is an enormously accomplished expert on the Greek Tragedies. Glenn W. Most studied at Harvard, Oxford, and Yale and is currently professor of ancient Greek at the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, and a visiting member of the Committe on Social Thought at the University of Chicago.  He divides his time between Pisa, Florence, and Chicago. Richmond Lattimore (1906–1984) was a poet, translator, and longtime professor of Greek at Bryn Mawr College. David Grene (1913–2002) taught classics for many years at the University of Chicago. He was a founding member of the Committee on Social Thought.

Very Readable Modern Translations

For many years when I taught two or three of the plays in this volume, I used an edition which is now out of print. Unfortunately, many of the translations are done in a kind of pseudo-Shakespearean, which means that the translations are denser than they need to be. The translations in this edition are very readable and effective for classroom use. A nice job translating and editing.

Good for beginners

Photoshop is one of best photo editing software. when i followed techniques explained in this book i realized that i can modify any picture and make it to picture perfect regardless of whatever errors or noise it has. it starts with fixing portrait photographs, second trick explained here should make you perfect in changing background image, third chapter makes your picture more realistic looks and modifications, when we learn chapter 4 we will be perfect in changing exposure, lighting, white balance, saturation and vibrant. it ends with teaching advanced Photoshop techniques. very good book for beginners.

Helped me jog my memory and get to know the basics again.

I'm taking a Computer Graphics course this semester and it deals a lot with photoshop. I haven't used photoshop in years so I needed to figure out how to do the basics all over again. I read over this book and I was able to jog my memory back pretty fast. It's all pretty concise and the 5 different segments really are very important to any graphics design student.

Great book, awful binding in the paperback

Despite the product page listing a hardcover, the edition I received from Amazon was a soft-cover which had pages falling out of it from day 1. I ended up buying a hardcover edition at full price from the campus bookstore, which was thinner, printed on better paper, and had noticeably higher printing quality. I returned the softcover to Amazon as defective.

That said, the content of the book is excellent. The chapters are very readable both for reading start-to-finish or selectively reading only those parts you need at that moment. I will be keeping this book as a handy reference in years to come.

Conclusion: Great book. If you can get a hardcover copy, do so, even if it costs you a bit more.

This book is easy to read but covers all the complex topics in introducing the reader to geology and geological engineering principles. This is a great book for someone beginning in geology or geological engineering. Recommend it to anyone.
